masquerade masks

Instead of working on my TM outline, I am looking at beautiful masquerade masks on Etsy. Check out The Crafty Chemist's store here.

Pink Showgirl Feather Masquerade Mask

Shades of Purple and Silver Venetian Feather Mask

I am probably going to wear a purple dress, so I've been looking at pink and purple masks. I love the ornate detail on these masks. This must have been bling in the olden days.

I plan to make my own mask, so I'll probably keep it simple like these masks found at Party Mask's shop.

old haul- shoes and nail polish

I am never home in the middle of the day, so I wanted to take advantage of the natural light and took some of my stuff outside to shoot.

First up, I've been looking for nude heels for ages and finally found a pair over Xmas. Yayyy.

These were thrifted, but I can see that they were made by Y-Not. They are not very comfortable, so you can probably see that I inserted Dr. Scholl ball of foot cushions. They were a life saver with my black heels, but not so much with these.

To add to my nude shoe spree, I got some flats from Old Navy while I was in SF.

Polishes I got from a nail supply store in Garden Grove. OPI polishes were half price!

Review:

These are my first OPI polishes and I don't see what all the fuss is about. They weren't that smooth. They chipped pretty easily and they weren't very pigmented. Overall, I was not that impressed. The China Glaze was pigmented and pretty, but I think the mint green was too light and didn't look pretty against my skin tone.

another lost weekend

Every time I drive to Kevin's house, I stay for days just to justify the drive to Rosemead. This weekend, we went looking for my gala dress. It was a bad idea to look at my loans before embarking on this shopping trip. Kevin, predictably, bought more than I did. I settled on this dress, which I am not too pleased with. Yves pointed out that it flattened out my boobs. I agree. My boobs deserve better.

On second look, the poofy dress makes it look like I have a belly. Yep, definitely going to return.

We went to dinner for his dad's bday at this hole in the wall Hawaiian grill by his house. There were fish tanks at every booth. It was kind of like a poor man's Rainforest Cafe, with more live animals.

In case you missed seeing my face, here is my FOTD from going out to Sweet Lady Jane with Yves. 1/2 off pastries after 8:30 PM. Woot.

Conversation with my old boss (figuratively and literally):

Old Boss: Well, why don't you just go out and get your own clients?
Me: There are these things called malpractice suits.

---

Let's not talk about graduation. Let's not talk about the rest of my life. As much anxiety as this unknown future is wreaking on my system, I have to say that I love my day to day life. I always have people to laugh with. There's a tub full of muffins in my trunk. I can read NY Times using my USC library link (stupid 20 articles a month limit). Life is pretty good, even though I keep forgetting to chronicle it. (I was in Santa Barbara last weekend and no pictures!) I have the 3L Gala to look forward to. Only in law school would they call buying tickets to this event "registration for the 3L Gala." It sounds so gross and depressing, doesn't it? Registering. Our theme is masquerade, so I'll be on the look out for a mask too. This entry is going to end abruptly, because I don't know what else to say.

from my bf

K: I got hit by a pigeon today.
A: Omg, in your car??
K: No, I was just walking and this pigeon was about to take off. As it was gaining elevation, it smacked into my 6'2 head. [pause] Hey if you're going to continue laughing at me, I'm gonna go to bed.
A: Did it hurt?
K: No, but it was smelly.

Alexandra Wallace

I'm astounded at how fast a life cycle of a viral video moves. I watched the vid last week. Then I watched the parody videos and a week later, it's old news. A couple of things I wanted to comment on:

1) Know your audience. This girl goes to a school that's 37% Asian-Am and posted her video on Youtube, a site created by an Asian-Am where the most subscribed to channels are by Asian-Ams. It's kind of like Mel Gibson working in Hollywood and ranting about Jewish-Americans. Yeah, we're a minority, but if we control the medium, do you think anyone is going to laud your tirade? And finals week? That's primetime for Youtube watching by college students. How do you think WongFu Productions got so popular? Of course she didn't think this through and now has to find a new college where they have never seen the Internet...good luck with that one.

2) Free speech doesn't mean freedom from criticism. Alexandra apologists say that people should leave her alone, because she has the right to free speech. Free speech is a guarantee against government regulation of your right to speak, not a magical talisman that insulates you against people you piss off. Should we respect her right to air an unpopular opinion? Sure. Do we have the obligation to tolerate her ignorant statements? Absolutely not.

3) My fave parody videos:

Oh and Alexandra? If you're Googling yourself, know that real Bruins study in Young. You were probably in Powell, which is why cellphones were going off every 15 minutes.

Sausalito

I know it's petty, but I didn't feel like posting this on my FB. I'm kind of on a FB bf ban, because I don't want to be one of those girls who are all about their bfs. I do love this picture though. Yay for self-timers.
